In late May the final assembly line at BAE Systems’ Military Air & Information plant at Warton delivered its 100th Typhoon (BS074), becoming the first of the partner companies to achieve this milestone. Over 260 aircraft have now been delivered by the four assembly lines.
Warton’s total includes the first 24 aircraft for the Royal Saudi Air Force. It was planned to move final assembly of the remaining 48 Saudi aircraft to the Kingdom itself, but the final decision on this has yet to be taken, and it is likely that they will be completed at Warton. Adding these aircraft to those under contract for the RAF will see the Warton assembly line in business at the current rate of 25 aircraft per year until the end of 2017.
