ILFC Confirms A320neo Buy
International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) announced today that it has finalized an order for the purchase of 100 A320neo family aircraft from Airbus.

International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) announced today that it has finalized an order for the purchase of 100 A320neo family aircraft from Airbus.

ILCF said the deal provides for “model flexibility” but initially includes both A320neo and A321neos. Plans call for deliveries to start in 2015. As announced earlier, ILFC has chosen the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan to power at least 60 of the airplanes.

Although Airbus counts “commitments” for more than 330 Neos, this latest contract brings the total number of airplanes on firm order to 130. Apart from the ILFC order, launch customer Virgin America holds a firm order for 30 A320neos and Lufthansa’s supervisory board has issued its approval for an order 25 A320neos and five A321neos. Meanwhile, the first airline to commit to the program, India’s IndiGo, has yet to convert an MOU covering 150 A320neos to a firm order, nor has Brazil’s TAM, which holds an MOU for 22 A320neos.
