Lee Juan Lanford, 87, founder of Associated Air Center (AAC), died on November 13 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He created the Associated Radio Company, which initially specialized in the repair and installation of surplus radio ­equipment in ex-military air­craft purchased by private individuals and corporations, in 1948 at Love Field in Dallas. That small start-up company grew to become Associated Air Center, a leader in the maintenance and modification of large transport aircraft and regarded as specialists on the BBJ and ACJ.

Associated Air Center became part of the new StandardAero in 2008 when the company was restructured to support a broad base of aviation services.
