Cessna Aircraft chairman, president and CEO Jack Pelton is the sole member of a 19-person DOT future of aviation advisory committee who is representing general aviation interests. DOT Secretary Ray LaHood announced the committee members last month and, unsurprisingly, almost all of the members are affiliated with the airline industry. The advisory committee was established in March to provide information, advice and recommendations to the DOT Secretary regarding the competitiveness of the U.S. aviation industry and its ability to address the evolving transportation needs, challenges and opportunities of the national and global economy. Susan Kurland, assistant secretary for aviation and international affairs at the DOT, chairs the committee.
