Avidyne is touting its EX600 multifunction display (MFD) as a replacement for weather radar indicators in systems from Bendix, Bendix/King and Collins. In addition to radar symbology the EX600 offers a full range of selectable MFD functions with an extensive list of compatible interfaces.

The radar indicator replacement targets the legacy Bendix/RDR-1400 series color weather and SAR radar system along with others. Avidyne has added the capability to display information from the Honeywell Mk. 21 and Mk. 22 helicopter terrain awareness and warning systems (HTAWS). Also, standard EX600 interfaces can enable the MFD to present information and advisories from Avidyne TAS 600 series traffic systems and the TWX670 lightning-detection system. Optional interfaces with TCAS I and other HTAWS/TAWS/EGPWS systems are also available.

EX600 prices start at $9,990 for the standard MFD, which includes CMax electronic approach charts, worldwide airport diagrams plus standard traffic and lightning interfaces. With interfaces allowing the EX600 to function as the indicator for Bendix 80 Series, 100 Series and BendixKing 2000/2100 weather radars the price is $13,990. Interface capability with the larger Bendix 1100/1200/1300 and 1400 radars and Collins WXR250/270/300 raises the price to $16,990. However, Avidyne offers a $2,500 trade-in allowance for old radar indicators and MFDs toward a new EX600.
