Airborne Law Enforcement Services (ABLE) of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach, Calif., will be the first customer for FLIR Systems’ Ultra 9HD airborne thermal imaging system. An Ultra 9HD mounted on one of ABLE’s EC 120s is on display at FLIR’s Heli-Expo booth (No. 3928). The Ultra 9HD features a 640- by 512-pixel high-resolution thermal imaging array, a high-definition 1920- by 1080-pixel daylight camera in a compact gimbal and a high-resolution 640- by 512-pixel extreme lowlight imager. Other features include a boresighted laser rangefinder, precision laser illuminator and integrated IMU/GPS/nav solution. Ultra 9HD supports digital and analog video signals in high- and standard-definition displays as well as GPS receivers, moving-map displays, searchlight slaving and radars. According to FLIR, the Ultra 9HD is the first compact system to eliminate the external (ECU/CEU) along with the unnecessary weight of its associated cable runs.
