Filtration Development Corporation (FDC), provider of inlet barrier filters for a variety of civil and military helicopters, has received EASA approval for installation of its filters on all Turbomeca Arriel-powered Sikorsky S-76s, following FAA issuance of an STC last September. FDC, exhibiting at Booth No. 1940, said the EASA issuance “allows European operators of Arriel-engined S-76s to have the same level of engine protection and increased safety that U.S. operators enjoy.” The Novato, Calif. company is displaying what it says is its newest and lightest helicopter inlet barrier filter ever. A company spokesman offered no details or a specific rotorcraft application, saying simply, “For any more you will have to come to the booth and see it for yourself.”
