Baldwin Aviation of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and CAP Aviation Consulting Group of Daytona Beach, Fla., have combined products to bring aircraft operators an unusual, perhaps even unique, Web-based program that provides safety management with flight-data monitoring. The offering, called “Power of Plus,” is being shown here at Heli-Expo for the first time, at Baldwin Aviation’s booth (No. 2713).

“CAP Aviation Consulting created the flight data monitoring FDMPlus program to dovetail with our safety management SMSPlus and create an equation that adds up to a powerful tool for flight departments,” said Donald Baldwin, president of Baldwin Aviation and former head of both the Texaco and Coca-Cola flight departments.

SMSPlus is a turnkey program that focuses on human factors and procedures to help flight departments develop a safety management program that specifically fits their needs.

FDMPlus collects, manages and analyzes flight data. Here at Heli-Expo, Kipp Lau, CAP Aviation vice president of flight data monitoring services, will present information about FDMPlus at the FDM workshop on Monday from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“By combining SMSplus and FDMplus,” Baldwin said, “flight organizations will improve the overall efficiency and safety level of their flight operations while reducing fuel consumption, maintenance and insurance costs. The ‘plus’ in this equation really shows up on the bottom line.”
