A helicopter avionics system popular with UK and other European helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) operators is now available to pilots and operators in the U.S. Honeywell Aerospace (Booth No. 1310) announced the availability of Sentinel, an avionics system that provides critical flight-safety information. Priced at $9,000 for the base unit, Sentinel is a single avionics package that meets recent FAA guidance for HEMS operators, which requires weather, terrain, obstacle and altitude-above-ground awareness to be improved and night-vision goggles to be used for night operations. The Sentinel suite includes a radar altimeter, above-ground readout, a night-vision-goggle option and obstacles database.
