The news that General Dynamics is planning to purchase Jet Aviation for $2.25 billion doesn’t affect the latter’s plans to open a new $6.9 million Midcoast Aviation-branded maintenance facility and Jet Aviation FBO at Ogden-Hinckley Airport in Ogden, Utah. Jet Aviation announced the plans in May, but now the new facility’s opening schedule has been delayed slightly until early next year. General Dynamics plans to run Jet Aviation as an independent business unit and retain the Jet Aviation and Midcoast Aviation brand names. The Ogden facility is expected to employ 200 people during the next two years, working from a 70,000-sq-ft maintenance facility and 51,000-sq-ft FBO terminal and hangar complex that Jet Aviation is taking over from Kemp Jet Services. In June, the Utah governor’s board of economic development approved incentives for Jet Aviation’s move to Ogden, including an $8.315 million economic development zone tax increment incentive and $2,000-per-employee industrial association fund grant, which helps bring high-paying jobs to the state.
