Enstrom Helicopter recently delivered the first five-place 480B destined for Turkey to Istanbul-based Enstrom dealer Kaan Air. Enstrom handed over the turbine-powered helicopter–which features Garmin avionics, a leather interior and a photo door–to Kaan Air Capt. Muzaffer Atici at its factory in Menominee, Mich. Kaan Air plans to use the helicopter as a sales demonstrator and for commercial operations, including aerial tours and photography.
According to Enstrom president and CEO Jerry Mullins, the delivery to the Turkish operator shows the strides the manufacturer is making in international markets. In fact, more than 70 percent of new Enstrom helicopters sold in the last year went to overseas operators.
The company also delivered a 480B Guardian law-enforcement helicopter to the Plaquemines Parish, La. sheriff’s office. Notably, the police department’s 480B is the first new OEM helicopter delivered with the 6.0B version of Chelton Flight Systems’ synthetic-vision glass cockpit. It is also equipped with a Spectrolab SX-5 searchlight, cargo hook and Gyrocam DS infrared camera system.
Enstrom said it has added Travland Helicopters of Austin, Texas, to its dealer network to “support customers in Texas and the surrounding community.” Travland recently sold and delivered its first helicopter, a 280FX Shark for a private customer in Dallas. The dealer owns a 2007 Enstrom 280FX, which it uses for demos and training. That helicopter is on display here at Enstrom’s booth (No. 2231).
The helicopter manufacturer’s newest international dealer, Aerolineas Ejecutivas in Toluca, Mexico, also hasn’t wasted any time in the four months it has been selling Enstrom machines. So far Aerolineas Ejecutivas has secured buyers for three Enstrom 480Bs, with two headed to law enforcement agencies and one going to a commercial operator.
