U.S.-based Nordam will support the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) here in Singapore in the creation of an aerospace composites training program under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the ITE College Central, Yishun Campus.
The agreement calls for Nordam to provide student scholarships, training experiences and lecturer training. Nordam will also help develop ITE’s curriculum and supply raw material and help set up a laboratory.
“We want to help [decrease] the local industries’ reliance on foreign-educated talent,” Bill Peacher, COO of the Nordam Repair Group, said. Scholarships and six-month training experiences will be offered to 10 second-year students in the program. Trainees will thus practice hands-on at Nordam’s maintenance, repair and overhaul facility. Featuring a 180,000-sq-ft surface, it is located in the Changi Industrial Park. Nordam can be found here at the show at Stand No. Q11.
