Northrop Grumman Italia is making its Singapore Air Show debut with a display covering its full range of navigation systems mostly based on fiber-optic technology already selected in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Products on display include the LISA-200 and Navex family attitude heading reference systems and LN 251/LN 270 high accuracy inertial navigation systems.

Aircraft equipped with Northrop Grumman Italia systems include the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Tornado, BAE Systems Hawk, Alenia Aermacchi MB339 and the MiG-29 as well as Pilatus PC-7 and PC-9; some of which were developed with the company’s navigation systems and others retrofitted with them. The same applies to numerous models of helicopters, including part of the AgustaWestland fleet as well as other Sikorsky, Mil, Boeing and Eurocopter aircraft.

Looking into the future, Northrop Grumman Italia is already developing new solutions dedicated to UAVs, based on the latest sensor technologies such as fiber-optic gyros covering medium and high-accuracy options and capable of supporting free inertial navigation, micro electromechanical system gyros and accelerometers and GPS–either standard positioning service or selective availability anti-spoofing.

Northrop Grumman Italia is closely monitoring the development of Galileo receivers and says it will be ready to provide integrated Inertial/Galileo solutions when the system becomes operational.
