David Hupp was named president and CEO of AIG Aviation.

David Hupp was named president and CEO of AIG Aviation. Hupp joined AIG in New York as an underwriter in 1970 and has served as senior executive for the eastern zone since 2004.

Itzhak Nissan was named president and CEO of Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI). He replaces Moshe Keret. Nissan joined IAI in 1978 as a systems engineer and later became general manager of the company’s MBT division.

Michael Magni was named president of the Monaco Air Duluth FBO at Duluth International Airport. Magni has 20 years of experience in the aviation industry.

Jose Manuel Perez de la Cruz was named general manager of TAG Aviation Espana in Madrid. He was most recently managing director of flight academy Aero Madrid S.A. George Suttler was named v-p of flight operations and standards at TAG Aviation’s U.S. headquarters in Burlingame, Calif.

Executive Jet Management named Jeff Cryder executive v-p and CFO. He was previously the company’s senior v-p of finance and CFO.

Brad Kost was named president and CEO of Oxford, Conn.-based Key Air, an aircraft charter and management firm.

Nashville, Tenn.-based Business Aircraft Leasing named Jackie Henson executive
v-p; Rick Smith v-p of sales and marketing; Richard Thompson sales and acquisitions associate; and Kim Hannah sales assistant and market research.

Kelowna, Canada-based Northern Airborne Technology announced the following appointments: Ray Lewis, v-p of business development; Daryl Shauer, v-p of quality assurance and overall operations; Mitch Stinson, v-p of research and development; and Mark Phillips, v-p of finance.

John Olson was promoted to v-p of business development at Wing Charter Services, a division of Wing Aviation.

Bombardier Flexjet named Sylvain Levesque v-p of marketing, contracts and administration. He was previously v-p of strategy and business development for Bombardier Aerospace.

Charles Hanner was named head of Gannett’s flight department.

Mike Conrad joined Signature Flight Support as general manager of its FBO at McCarran International Airport.

Kemah, Texas-based Aircraft Belts named Rene Sosa purchasing manager and Crystal Knox customer-support associate.

Kenneth Duberstein was elected lead director of Boeing’s board of directors. He replaces Lew Platt, who died last year.

Memphis-based Iviation named Jeff McLain director of technical services.

David Prince has joined CRS Jet Spares as the repair coordinator.

Dassault Falcon Jet announced the following sales appointments: Cass Anderson, regional sales manager for the Western U.S.; Bob Kane director of sales for Canada; and Mark Greenwood, regional sales manager for the eastern states.

Jim O’Connell was named general manager of CAE’s new Northeast Training Center near Morristown Airport, New Jersey. He had been senior manager of training services for CAE SimuFlite in Dallas since 2001.

Seattle-based Galvin Flying Service named Mark Landes a salesman for its
Columbia Aircraft sales division and Pete Aldassy a Diamond Aircraft salesman.

Signature Flight Support promoted Joshua Wachsmuth to general manager of its Des Moines International Airport facility. He was most recently an operations manager for the company.

Wolfgang Walter was named managing director of 328 Support Services, a subsidiary of Corporate Jet Services.

Dallas Airmotive named Jim Zarvos director of sales for the Rolls-Royce engine programs; Max Allen program director; Steve Lunde Rolls-Royce engine manager for the western U.S.; John Trull, regional engine manager for Rolls-Royce programs in the mid-Atlantic region; Denise Turner director of field service and rental engine programs; and Dave Rassett regional engine manager for the TFE731 program.

John (Jack) Drake was named director of safety and flight operations for the Helicopter Association International (HAI).

Tacoma Park, Md.-based Sky Connect named Craig Moen sales manager U.S. government customers and East Coast sales and Jeff Taberner manager of West Coast sales.

Pierre-Yves Morvan was named v-p of supply chain for Turbomeca. He was previously v-p of production.

The Netherlands-based Denim Air named Ils Stuyckens sales director. She joins the company from CAE Aviation Training.

NTSB investigator Richard Rodriguez announced his retirement. Rodriguez started as an investigator with the Civil Aeronautics Board then joined the NTSB as one
of its first investigators.

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Jet Source named Jim Grindrod chief pilot.

Kandi Spangler has joined DB Aviation as regional director of sales and marketing. She was previously director of regional sales for The Air Group.

Boise, Idaho-based Western Aircraft named Chris Houghton service manager, Terry Hess manager of safety and training and Walt Johns warranty administrator.

Mesa, Ariz.-based MD Helicopters announced the following appointments to its leadership team: Peter Hokanson, CFO; Andrew Logan, chief technology officer; Jeffrey Snyder, general manager of spare parts and service; David Langenhuizen, general manager of operations; Charles Vehlow, director of operations for the Patriarch Partners Management Group; and Samuel Coleman, director of supply chain management for Patriarch Partners Management Group.

Bernie Herkenhoff is the new operations manager at Sabreliner’s Ste. Genevieve facility.

Duncan Aviation named Dale Hawkins airframe service sales representative; Shawn Busby project manager; and Benjamin “Skip” Thorp Bombardier technical representative. Keith Kobza was named team leader of the company’s rapid-response 24-hour service team.

Jim Blakey was named an associate for Houston-based JB&A Aviation.

Mike Edwards was named Bombardier Learjet program manager for Stevens Aviation’s Greenville, S.C. location.

Tracey Schwarz was named director of marketing and business development for Salt Lake City-based Keystone Aviation.

Awards & Honors

Martha King, who co-founded King Schools with her husband, John, was honored with the Cliff Henderson Award for Achievement by the National Aeronautic Association. Martha is the only woman to hold every FAA class of pilot and instructor ratings.

John Holland, regional aviation director for Air Methods, received the Helicopter Association International’s pilot of the year award at last month’s Heli-Expo convention. During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Holland was instrumental in the evacuation of patients and staff from Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans and was responsible for setting up aircraft staging and managing helicopter traffic and helipad procedures.

FlightSafety International founder A.L. Ueltschi received the Orbis Lifetime Achievement Award last month. Ueltschi helped develop the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital, a DC-10 converted into an ophthalmic surgical hospital. Orbis International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating avoidable blindness in poor countries.

Final Flights

Hal Spragins, III died on January 16 after a brief illness. Spragins was most recently employed by Pilatus Center South/Epps Aviation in Atlanta, Ga., and was involved in general aviation for many years. He was president of the Hangar One FBO chain and led Memphis Aero as a top FBO and Piper Cheyenne dealer. He later joined with Pat Epps to form Pilatus Center South. Spragins was a former member of NBAA’s board of directors.

James Gilbert, accomplished writer and photographer with Flying Magazine in the 1960s and later editor and publisher of his own vibrant magazine (Pilot) in his native England, died on February 14 after battling cancer.
