Action Aviation, the exclusive distributor of MD Helicopters in the Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Scandinavia, is showing the 6,500-pound MD902 in the static display. Though appearing at the Dubai Air Show for the first time, it made its first Middle East appearance at the Dubai Helishow in December last year, said Action Aviation managing director Mike Creed.

Delivered on August 31 to the government of Ajman (the smallest UAE member state), the twin-turbine helicopter on display here has a six-passenger, VIP interior and is the first 902 sold in the Middle East. “We are providing a full turnkey package to the customer, including pilots, engineer and maintenance,” Creed said.

The second 902 in the region, an EMS ship also operated under a full turnkey package, began operations on October 1 at Hamad Hospital in Qatar. Two more will follow next year, and Action just sold another 902 to a Kazakh businessman, Creed said.
 The twin-turboshaft MD902 with standard equipment costs $6.2 million at list prices. Max range is about 260 nautical miles, max speed is 140 knots and service ceiling 18,600 feet.
