Rolls-Royce has awarded Dubai International Capital-owned Doncasters (Stand W216) a contract to repair and overhaul front combustion liners in annular combustors on several turbofans. Under the agreement, Rolls-Royce will subcontract all RB211-535C/-524 work and some of the -535E4 work to Doncasters, while the Airmotive division of Doncasters Aerospace Components in Shrewsbury, UK, handles repairs. RB211 engines power the Boeing 747-400, Boeing 757-200/300, Boeing 767 and Tupolev Tu-204.

At Blaenavon, another UK site, Doncasters claims it has reduced its energy consumption by 5.6 million kWh, thus saving 11,000 pounds of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere. The company’s goal now is to further reduce energy consumption at its facilities, targeting a level that is 5 percent below the UK government’s environment agency DEFRA guidelines year over year, during the next five years.
