A new list from the Transportation Safety Administration contains 64 items that airline passengers cannot have with them in the terminal as well as on the aircraft. These items fall into several categories, from guns, other weapons and explosives to certain sharp objects and “club-like items” such as pool cues and hockey sticks. A shorter list contains 24 things that are allowed, including medical and personal grooming items (nail clippers are OK again), butter knives and “hobby” items, such as knitting and crochet needles. Even toy guns are permitted, “if not realistic replicas.”
