CJ Systems Aviation Group and Fidelity Flight Simulation have released details on the new simulator flight training center that they will open in Pittsburgh this fall.
CJ will provide helicopter sim instruction including curriculum, training and instructors for a wide variety of initial, recurrent and instrument programs, and Fidelity will furnish its Motus full-motion flight simulation technology, beginning with a type-specific Eurocopter EC 135 device.
Training activities will concentrate on light and medium helicopters typically used for medical, law enforcement and corporate transportation. A second simulator will be added early next year.
Instrument rating and refresher courses will also be offered. “There is a real need for quality instrument training programs, even for pilots who fly under visual flight rules,” said FFS president Graham Hodgetts. “Inadvertent flight into IMC continues to be one of the most common causes of rotorcraft accidents.”
CJ Systems is an air-medical services helicopter and fixed-wing operator, with a fleet of more than 100 aircraft and in excess of 700 employees. It manages air medical services at 70 base sites and is headquartered at Allegheny County Airport (AGC) in West Mifflin, Pa.
