CTI invests in expansion and service

Composite Technology, Inc. (CTI) is investing assets in the helicopter market to broaden its Canadian service footprint.

At Heli-Expo’06, the Grand Prairie, Texas company (Booth No. 2713) announced it has expanded its rotor-blade repair service to the Canadian market. It is prepared to transfer Sikorsky S-76 technology and rotor-blade repair to CTI facilities in Canada. “This access [in Canada by Canadian operators] to S-76 rotor-blade repair capabilities represents dual benefits,” said CTI president Michael Topa, “leads to time reduction and cost efficiencies.”

CTI has also announced an expansion of its field repairs and lease programs to reduce customer turn-around time. The expansion includes a dedicated field repair team trained to perform repairs at the operator’s site and purchase of new portable equipment. Also this year, CTI is investing $1.5 million to extend its rotor-blade lease pool. Rotor blades to be added to the CTI lease pool include those for the Sikorsky S-76, Eurocopter BK 117 and the Bell 407 and Bell 412. The goal, according to CTI, guarantees a zero turn time.
