Odyssey Aviation Bahamas has opened two handling locations on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. The new locations are at Governors Harbour Airport (MYEM) and Rock Sound Airport (MYER). Sylvie McCartney is station manager for both locations.
One of the pleasures of attending the many aviation trade shows on our annual to-do list is the opportunity to see new aircraft, products and people. I’m sure many of the “new” exhibitors that I run across every year have probably been exhibiting for years and I just haven’t noticed them, but it’s still fun to meet new people, like Maxim Antonov of Avioconversiya (no relation to the Russian aircraft designer).

ExecuJet Middle East has sent a letter of intent to enter into a service agreement with Gal Mena, a joint venture formed between Gal Aviation, a member of the Gal Group of companies in Canada, and Mena Aerospace Enterprises of the Kingdom of Bahrain. ExecuJet Middle East is expanding offerings by joining forces with Gal Mena to deliver all-inclusive cabin interior service.
Abu Dhabi, UAE-based Al Bateen Executive Airport, the Gulf Region’s only dedicated private aviation airport, reported more than 150 business aircraft movements during the Etihad Airways Formula 1TM Grand Prix, which were held November 8 to 13. This represents an increase of 58 percent in movements compared with the same period for last year’s event.

Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) has opened an expanded office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) staffed with six employees–a tech rep and five sales, contract and administrative personnel. The field tech rep will coordinate maintenance with ExecuJet in Dubai, Arabasco in Jeddah and Alkon in Cairo.
Jet Aviation Abu Dhabi appointed Peter Lewis as senior manager of its new operations at Al Bateen Executive Airport. The 30-year business aviation veteran brings experience in maintenance, project management and quality assurance to the new position. Meanwhile, the FBO plans to carry out maintenance using a 12,917-sq-ft hangar while its dedicated 25,833-sq-ft hangar is refurbished.
Like so much of the growth seen in the Middle East, aviation interests have raced ahead at an alarming pace. Super-size airline orders have been practically commonplace, manufacturers of military hardware flock to the region, and business aviation is a natural fit for those who must make themselves mobile on a global scale.
Honeywell has signed distribution agreements with Global Aerospace Logistics (GAL) of Abu Dhabi and Transworld Aviation of Dubai to quicken response times on orders from Honeywell customers.
