It allows existing Airshow 4000 or Venue HD cabin management system users to interactively “view the world around them and stay informed during their journey.” A panoramic view allows passengers to see a moving map of the outside world from any direction the iPad is pointed.

BizjetMobile, a new software app from Exec Jet Mobile, allows passengers with Bluetooth and Apple products to use an installed Aircell/Iridium phone to send and receive SMS text and SMS e-mail to and from an iPhone or iPad.

Calgary-based KR Industrial Design & Consulting has developed the Aero navigation in-cockpit mount for iPads, which it bills as an “ergonomically mounted fixture” at a pilot’s fingertips. The iPad mount was recently certified by Transport Canada and is currently available for the Canadair Regional Jet, though other rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft models will soon be added, KRIDC said. Pricing for the Aero mount starts at about $1,200 per installation. The company is now working on FAA STC approval and is mulling EASA certification.

Publications are accessed through the ATP Aviation Hub Online Service with an iPad or the NavigatorV Desktop Platform. With the ATP Aviation Hub Online Service, updates and revisions are automatically incorporated into McCauley overhaul manuals daily, supporting the currency, regulatory compliance and safety efforts of maintenance operations.
Aircraft Performance Group recently added in-flight analysis to its iPreFlight iPad app. Previous versions of the APG app require an Internet connection to perform runway analysis calculations. The advantage of performing a landing-distance assessment while airborne is that conditions at the destination sometimes change, and pilots need to calculate if the destination runway still meets legal and safety parameters.

Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support (GCS) announced yesterday that its technical publications and customer support directory are now available in the Apple App Store. The technical publication app, which will allow users to download and manage technical document libraries and receive notifications when updates are released, is available for the iPad and requires the user to register at the company’s website.
