On the eve of NBAA 2013, aircraft brokers here are expressing confidence that values of pre-owned aircraft have stabilized and pre-owned business aircraft transactions are on the upswing.

Jet Support Services (JSSI) is unveiling its new G650 Tip-to-Tail program for the Gulfstream G650 here at NBAA (Booth No. C7321). An independent provider of hourly cost maintenance programs for business aircraft engines, airframes and APUs, JSSI offers operators a wide range of maintenance programs for more than 325 aircraft makes and models. JSSI’s Tip-to-Tail program, available for 165 aircraft models, provides coverage for virtually every assembly and system on an aircraft.

TAG Engineering Le Bourget has joined Bombardier’s authorized service facility (ASF) network as an authorized line maintenance facility. The MRO is now able to provide line- and base-level maintenance services for the Learjet 60, Learjet 60XR, Challenger 300, Challenger 605, Global Express, Global Express XRS and Global 5000 as well as Global 5000 and Global 6000 equipped with the Bombardier Vision flight deck. It is the only Bombardier ASF at Le Bourget.
Smartphone maker BlackBerry (née RIM) plans to close its corporate flight department as part of a comprehensive restructuring plan aimed at stemming losses that are set to total as much as $995 million during its second fiscal quarter, which ended last month. New chief executive Thorsten Heins has decided to sell a Bombardier Global Express that the Waterloo, Ontario-based company bought pre-owned as recently as July for an undisclosed price.
Jet Support Services (JSSI) and VistaJet International signed a deal under which JSSI will provide hourly-cost maintenance coverage for the Rolls-Royce BR710 engines and Honeywell APU on the operator’s first of 50 Bombardier Global 5000s and 6000s on order. The long-term agreement is valued at more than $205 million.
“This is the largest contract in our history and, to the best of our knowledge, one of the largest if not the largest ever in the hourly-cost maintenance sector,” Neil Book, JSSI’s president and CEO, told AIN.
The first of VistaJet’s 50 Bombardier Global 5000s and 6000s ordered last November has been enrolled in the JSSI program. The long-term $205 million deal, announced at EBACE, will cover the Global 5000s’ and 6000s’ Rolls-Royce BR710 engines and Honeywell APUs under JSSI’s hourly-cost maintenance program.
The 500th Bombardier Global has entered service, with the milestone aircraft, a Global 6000, delivered to French corporation Groupe Bollore earlier this week. “We are delighted to mark this event with Groupe Bollore, a true example of global corporate leadership,” said Michel Ouellette, Bombardier Business Aircraft vice president and general manager for Globals. The first Global-series jet, a Global Express, was delivered in July 1999, to AirFlite, which operated the aircraft on behalf of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A.
A team of field service representatives from Dallas Airmotive’s F1rst Support global field service organization completed its first removal of a Rolls-Royce BR710 engine. The work was completed at the Bombardier Service Center in Dallas.
Rolls-Royce has named ExecuJet Service Centre in Dubai, UAE, an authorized service center to perform engine line maintenance, removals and installations on Rolls-Royce BR710 and AE3007A powerplants. The BR710 powers the Bombardier Global Express, Global Express XRS, Global 5000 and Global 6000, and the AE3007A is on Embraer’s Legacy 600 and 650.
