Europe’s business jet fleet has enjoyed double-digit growth over the past year, according to the latest statistics from UK-based aviation data group Airclaims. Tracking jets registered in 38 European countries, the figures show 1,407 aircraft as of last December 31–a 12-percent increase on the tally of 1,260 at the end of 2004.

Expanded from the Total Legacy Care program created for Legacy buyers, the new program fits a variety of operational profiles, offering greater flexibility, according to Embraer.

Jet Aviation’s FBO at London Biggin Hill Airport is set to become the first international authorized service center for the Sino-Swearingen SJ30-2 business jet. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding here at the EBACE show yesterday.

German charter operator Cirrus Aviation is to operate Eclipse 500s on behalf of UK-based group JetSet Air, which ordered up to 50 of the new very light jets last November. JetSet Air managing director David Bond also announced yesterday that he has begun negotiations with Embraer for the purchase of up to 10 Phenom 100 VLJs for delivery by 2009. The first two Eclipse 500s will arrive in spring 2007.

Embraer has selected Thales’ integrated electronic standby instrument (IESI) for the Phenom 100 and 300 business jets. The Thales IESI already flies aboard every other Embraer model, from the ERJ 135 regional twinjet to the Embraer 190, launched in a business jet derivative here at EBACE on Tuesday.

Under a freshly signed contract, Embraer will provide the Indian government with a complete support package for its five Legacy 600 business jets. The 10-year agreement covers a spare part exchange program, a repair program and a number of technical assistance services. The latter include technical publication updates, recurrent training, a rental program for ground support equipment, field support and back-office engineering.

Embraer’s European unveiling of its Phenom 100 very light and 300 light jet full-scale cabin mockups here yesterday provided a platform for the Phenom’s fleet launch customer, start-up charter operator JetBird of Zurich, to announce the launch of its low-cost service.

Just before the 2005 EBACE show, the Brazilian airframer announced two new corporate aircraft–the Phenom 100 very light jet (VLJ) and the Phenom 300 light jet.

Embraer (Booth No. 1420) has sold another two super-midsize Legacy 600 business jets in the Middle East, bringing the fleet to seven in the region. The first has been purchased in Beirut, Lebanon, by Adnan Kassar. He is the chairman and CEO of Fransabank SAL and chairman of the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture. Delivery is pegged for the third quarter.
