Aircell Will Fund SwiftBroadband STCs For European Operators

Aircell will sponsor the process to obtain supplemental type certificates (STCs) for European operators that choose to have its Aviator 200 SwiftBroadband satellite communications system installed. The company has signed an agreement with P3 Voith Aerospace of Hamburg to develop the STCs for Aviator 200 installations in Europe.

The program includes a complete, no-cost STC for operators that have the Aviator 200 system installed by an authorized Aircell dealer and also activate a new SwiftBroadband service under its monthly plan, said the company.

Aircell Buys Airfone Frequencies To Expand Gogo In-flight Internet Services

Aircell recently completed its acquisition of Airfone from LiveTV. The agreement includes LiveTV’s 1-MHz air-to-ground spectrum license, as well as the Airfone in-flight communications service, network infrastructure and back-office operational assets. To expand capabilities, Aircell’s Gogo in-flight Internet service will branch into Airfone’s frequencies, which are adjacent to those currently used by Gogo and Gogo Biz. To accommodate this expansion, the Airfone service will be permanently decommissioned on December 31.

Constant Aviation Hits Top-five Aircell List

Constant Aviation has been named one of the top five highest-performing Aircell dealers. Constant Aviation’s Wi-Fi STCs include the Hawker 800A/XP, 850XP, 900XP, the Citation X, the Phenom 300, the Legacy 600 and the EMB-135LR. STCs on the Beechjet 400A/XP and executive-configured Boeing 737 are in the final stages of FAA approval.

Aircell Expanding Gogo Biz Coverage To Canada in Early 2014

Aircell’s Gogo Biz in-flight Internet service for business aircraft will be expanded to include coverage over Canada starting in the first quarter of next year, the company announced today. At present, Gogo Biz allows passengers and flight crews to have high-speed Internet access above 10,000 feet in the continental U.S. and portions of Alaska, using their own Wi-Fi enabled laptops, tablets, smartphones, electronic flight bags and other mobile devices. No roaming fees will be assessed when using Gogo Biz in Canada, Aircell noted.

Avjet Add Aircell For Inflight Internet

Inflight connectivity and services provider Aircell (Booth No. 510) announced that charter and management provider Avjet has passed the mid-point in a program to equip its charter fleet with Aircell’s Gogo Biz inflight Internet service.

Gogo Biz offers coverage over the continental U.S. and most of southeast Alaska above 10,000 feet. Data transfer rates of up to 3.1 mbps allow passengers and crew to access the Internet through personal Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, tablets, smartphones, electronic flight bags and other mobile devices.
Banyan Expands High-Speed-Data/WiFi program

Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport-based Banyan Air Service’s avionics department recently completed a high-speed-data/WiFi installation on an executive Boeing 757. The Banyan Avionics travel team performed the installation at the customer’s MRO of choice during a maintenance inspection. The travel team has now performed high-speed-data/WiFi installations on the Boeing 727/737/747SP/757. In addition, Banyan recently secured a contract to outfit three Boeing 737s with Aircell ATG-5000 high-speed Internet.
Corporate Angel Network Auction Items Reach New Heights

Donated items for the live auction at the NBAA/Corporate Angel Network (CAN) Soiree, to be held on October 31 during the NBAA Convention in Orlando, Fla., have reached spectacular levels. Aircell has donated the biggest-ticket auction item ever–an ATG 5000 high-speed Internet equipment package for business aircraft worth $91,500–to the organization, which coordinates free transportation for cancer patients on corporate aircraft.
NetJets Expanding Onboard Wi-Fi Service

NetJets is adding in-flight Aircell Internet service to another 100 or so aircraft in its fleet. In 2010 the fractional operator initially opted for Aircell Internet service aboard more than 250 of its jets, and the additional 100 systems will expand NetJets’ connected fleet by about 40 percent. The installation process is already under way at Duncan Aviation, and NetJets expects the entire retrofit program to be completed by mid-2014.
