The mini-UAV that crashed in Pakistan close to the Afghan border was disguise

U.S. special or covert forces are using hand-launched UAVs disguised as large birds to monitor terrorist movements along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. The Pakistan Frontier Corps recovered one such UAV after it crashed on August 25 near one of its border forts in Baluchistan.

The appearance of the marinized variant of the General Atomics MQ-9 Predator B at the recent Paris Air Show heralds an export drive for the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) to European NATO countries, as well as Australia, Japan and other prospects. The aircraft at Paris belonged to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which has named it the Guardian.

JetNet released its first 10-year business jet delivery forecast last month, predicting worldwide deliveries of 11,476 new business jets worth $258 billion by 2020. In January, the company launched its new JetNet iQ survey program and used the more than 1,000 global responses it received, combined with product life cycle, market value analysis and other economic indicators, to shape its forecast.

Raytheon revealed a hyperspectral sensor, which has been adapted to the MQ-1 Predator UAV, at the Paris Air Show on Tuesday. The airborne cueing and exploitation system hyperspectral (Aces HY) is believed to be the first such sensor to enter series production for a tactical airborne platform.
