The club’s three Cessna CitationJets are now demonstrating monthly utilization rate of 55 flight hours each. A typical operation lasts one to three days and sees two to three business travelers flying domestic routes.
European business aviation flights declined almost 4 percent in the first four months of 2013 over the same period the prior year, according to data released at EBACE by Avinode, the online air charter market maker based in Gothenburg, Sweden. A major restructuring at Air India has cut loss-making routes to 25 percent of its network in the fiscal year ending March 2013, down from 69 percent in the previous year. AJW Aviation has appointed Satvendar (Sam) Singh as chief commercial officer. He will be based in the Singapore office. Singh previously worked at Mubadala Aerospace MRO Network/SR Technics Switzerland, Singapore Airlines Engineering, ExecuJet Aviation Group and Pratt & Whitney/United Technologies, where he managed supply chain and logistics in California. Singh holds a bachelor of law degree, certificate in legal practice and an MBA in finance.
Online jet charter broker PrivateFly estimates that approximately half of the estimated £9.3 million in potential revenue from the recent extension of the UK’s air passenger duty (APD) tax to business jets will be lost to nonpayment in the first year. The extended tax, which became effective on April 1, applies to all flights departing from the UK.
A new survey by the University of North Dakota Aviation Department suggests that young people are being turned off by the prospect of a career as an airline pilot. Just under one third of the 205 student respondents (32 percent) said they are now reconsidering their plans to become an airline pilot. A further 8 percent said that they have already abandoned this career path.
