Pattonair has moved into a new 24,000-sq-ft distribution center in Indianapolis in support of growth related to its Rolls-Royce North America contract. The AmeriPlex-Indianapolis Business Park is five miles from Indianapolis International Airport. During the initial implementation of the contract in 2011 Pattonair established an interim building to begin operations. Pattonair provides kitting, line feed, distribution, aftermarket and MRO, consultancy, reverse logistics, warehouse management and supplier management.

NetJets has filed lawsuits against Signature Flight Support and Landmark Aviation in an attempt to force the two FBO chains to extend contracted high-volume fuel discounts to Support Services clients at NetJets aircraft charter and management arm Executive Jet Management.

Landon Petty, COO of Louisiana Aircraft in Baton Rouge, has been named chairman of the Air Elite Network board and will serve that role through the end of next year. He succeeds former chairman Steve Lasseter, who left the industry to pursue other projects. Larry Wade, owner of Golden Isles Aviation, Saint Simons Island, Ga., replaces Petty as vice chairman. Air Elite, a network of independent FBOs, was created last year by World Fuel Services from the remnants of the disbanded Avitat network.

Following a dispute with Fayetteville, Ark. airport authority, Million Air quit operating the FBO at Fayetteville Executive/Drake Field Airport last month after eight years at the airport. “We’ve had to take a hard look at all of our locations and maybe rethink some of the markets that we’re in,” Million Air president and CEO Roger Woolsey told AIN, referring to the industry downturn of the past several years. “Fayetteville unfortunately happens to be one of them.”

To accommodate existing and future business growth, CAV Ice Protection will open a North American operations center at New Century Airport in Olathe, Kansas, near Kansas City. “CAV Ice Protection’s ongoing growth and future business plans will result in new ice-protection products and services, greater support and expanded capabilities at our facilities in the UK, Poland, Mexico and the United States,” said Ken Weaver, CAV Ice Protection vice president for sales and marketing.

An Embraer Phenom 300 set three speed records for its class when it flew from Embraer Executive Jets’ headquarters at Melbourne (Fla.) International Airport (MLB) to Daugherty Field in Long Beach, Calif., with only one fuel stop. On the first leg, the twinjet flew the 1,380-nm route to El Paso (Tex.) International Airport in four hours, 16 minutes and 33 seconds. After a 27-minute fuel stop, it proceeded to Long Beach, completing the 607-nm leg in one hour, 55 minutes and 20 seconds.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott and other political leaders joined Embraer president and CEO Frederico Curado on March 26 to cut the ribbon on a 40,000-sq-ft hangar at Jacksonville International Airport that Embraer will use to assemble the A-29 Super Tucano for the U.S. Air Force Light Air Support (LAS) program.

The 45,000-sq-ft hangar at Phoenix Heliparts’s Mesa, Ariz. facility is near capacity.

From a husband-and-wife operation launched 10 years ago in the family garage in Mesa, Ariz., Phoenix Heliparts has grown into major player in the art of restoring older helicopters to a new and useful life.

The company’s main facility in Mesa, about 14 miles north of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, now totals about 45,000 sq ft and there is an additional 25,000 sq ft and a designated landing area at the airport for flight testing.

Universal Helicopters will award its Vision Award, a full scholarship valued at up to $12,000 for night-vision goggle (NVG) certification in a Robinson R44, to one lucky Heli-Expo attendee on Wednesday. The company’s NVG certification program–which is conducted at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott, Ariz. campus–includes a maximum of seven hours flight and 10 hours of ground training. Those who wish to be in the drawing must hold an FAA commercial rotorcraft helicopter certificate, enter at Universal Helicopters’ booth and be present to win.
