Hawker Beechcraft Services (HBS) has expanded its aircraft maintenance facility at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Ariz. The recently completed $14 million project added a second 26,000-sq-ft hangar which includes 22,000 sq ft of back shops, administrative offices and a customer lobby. The enhanced customer space offers guest offices for customers to use while their aircraft are being serviced.

West Palm Beach, Fla.-based Greenjets said its shared-ride charter jet membership service has been growing quickly since it was launched in April last year. “Our business has been doubling or tripling every month,” company president Dean Rotchin told AIN. Greenjets allows customers to book seats and share charter jets, thereby reducing the cost and per-passenger carbon footprint for each flight.

After debating Grand Canyon air-tour noise for eight years, the Grand Canyon Working Group (GCWG) has left the issue to the National Park Service (NPS), which often supports environmentalist positions. At a recent meeting the GCWG disagreed on NPS alternatives, including a seasonal shift in air-tour corridors by alternatively closing the Zuni and Dragon corridors, which are now open concurrently.
On January 12, the new Million Air Tucson FBO held its grand opening, marking the FBO franchise’s first presence in Arizona. The new facility, designed by Seaver Franks Architects, was finished in January and features more than 54,000 sq ft of office and hangar space, a two-story FBO terminal, security system with electronic access, theater room, covered parking and spacious conference and break rooms.
Dallas Airmotive, a BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) company, has moved its Phoenix regional turbine center from Scottsdale Airpark to a new facility next to Deer Valley Airport. At 7,500 sq ft, the new facility is twice the size of the Deer Valley building.
Project Phoenix, launched in 2007 to broker the acquisition and sale of CRJ200 regional jets in an executive configuration, recently announced an agreement with remote medical assistance specialist MedAire to provide a complimentary MedAire package. It will include a one-year subscription that connects passengers and crew to doctors at MedAire’s 24/7 MedLink Global Response center in Phoenix.
