Air BP signed an agreement today with Grupa Lotos to form a new 50-50 joint venture–Lotos-Air BP Polska–to manage the supply, logistics and marketing of aviation fuel in Poland to airline and general aviation customers. Alex Junge, Air BP’s performance unit leader for northern and central Europe, said general aviation customers will be able to use their Air BP Sterling card at all the new joint-venture locations. Air BP expects the deal to be sealed in the next six to eight weeks, subject to competition authority approval.

ExxonMobil confirmed to AIN that it has decided to exit the general aviation fuels business in the U.S. and dissolve its network of Avitat-branded FBOs.

Continuing the recent trend of major oil companies scaling back their general aviation commitments, ExxonMobil confirmed to AIN today that it has decided to exit the general aviation fuels business and dissolve its network of Avitat-branded FBOs.

West Star Aviation is now the only FBO and Air BP the only fuel supplier at Walker Field in Grand Junction, Colo., following West Star’s purchase of Timberline Aviation. However, West Star president Bob Barry promised he will maintain the former Timberline’s fuel price margins and aircraft tiedown rates. “We intend to keep fuel prices regionally competitive,” he said.

One of the world’s greatest civil engineering projects, the $8 billion Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) carries crude oil 800 miles south from Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean to a pipeline terminus at Port Valdez. Built between 1975 and 1977, the pipeline at the time was the largest and most expensive privately funded construction project ever undertaken.
