The Russian government intends to combine Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports into a single state-owned entity to renovate them and eventually sell them to private operators, according to plans laid out by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. The Russian government owns 100 percent of Sheremetyevo and 75 percent of Vnukovo, with the remaining quarter (worth approximately $1.5 billion, according to reports) owned by the city of Moscow.

Jet Aviation Moscow Vnukovo recently announced that it has expanded its base and line service maintenance coverage to include Bombardier Challenger 300s and Gulfstream G200s under its EASA 145 maintenance approval. The operation has continuously expanded its service capabilities since it became a legal Russian entity in May.
Jet Aviation today announced that its maintenance operation at Moscow Vnukovo International Airport, one of the largest air transportation hubs in Russia and the closest to the Moscow city center, now offers 24/7 line maintenance services and AOG support. In addition, Jet Aviation Vnukovo provides AOG support at Moscow Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo Airports, as well as at other Russian airports.

Swiss-based business aviation service provider Jet Aviation and Vnukovo Invest, co-owner of Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow, have signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture that has the goal of significantly expanding Jet Aviation’s operation at Vnukovo next year.
Gulfstream Aerospace has added the Jet Aviation maintenance center at Moscow Vnukovo as a Gulfstream authorized warranty line service facility for the full line of Gulfstreams. The airframer has also announced the appointment of a new field service representative in Moscow who will provide immediate customer support and service to in-country and in-transit Gulfstreams.
On November 27 Jet Aviation became the first international business aviation services group to establish a support operation in Moscow when it took possession of a hangar next to the Vnukovo-3 business aviation terminal. It has also begun construction on a 33,000-sq-ft hangar that should be completed early this year.
Jet Aviation yesterday signed an agreement with Vnukovo Invest that will allow the Swiss-based aviation company to provide maintenance services at Moscow Vnukovo International Airport by year-end. The deal makes Jet Aviation the first global independent business aviation services company operating in the growing Russian bizjet market.
Business aviation has more than a toehold in Russia, as evidenced by this photo shot recently at Moscow Vnukovo Airport. Rampant construction is obviously under way, indicating that future expansion is included in the airport’s master plan for private aircraft.
