Twin Commander Aircraft has developed a pressurization leak kit for rudder-pedal horns. Leaks in the boots that enclose the rudder-pedal horns can result in a noticeable loss of pressure differential, meaning a higher cabin altitude at cruise. Twin Commander’s new rudder-pedal seal kit includes a plug for the rudder-pedal horns/brake valve arms and improved boots that help preserve cabin pressurization.

Part 135 pilots can use the SmartStem tire pressure management system to perform daily tire pressure checks.

The FAA has approved the Crane Aerospace & Electronics SmartStem tire pressure management system for use in Part 135 safety checks. In a letter to the system’s manufacturer, the agency stated, “It is our opinion that pilots conducting Part 135 operations may use the SmartStem to perform daily tire pressure checks as a pre-flight task if the system has been properly installed on the aircraft by means of an STC or other FAA approval.”

The STC retrofit kits will be available exclusively through Dassault Falcon Jet. Crane is in the process of certifying SmartStem on additional business, regional and large commercial aircraft.

Operators of the Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D series engines have a new option when it comes to overhaul. Aviation Turbines International (ATI) of O’Fallon, Mo., has added the powerplant to its hot section and repair services. ATI will be able to perform complete overhaul of the engine as well as accessories, such as fuel controls, bleed air valve, anti-ice valve, motive flow valve, fuel nozzles and fuel pumps.
