Hawker Beechcraft received EASA approval for the Hawker 800XPR yesterday, just weeks after receiving certification from the FAA. This upgrade package is available exclusively through factory-owned Hawker Beechcraft Service facilities, including its Chester, UK location.

Rockwell Collins’s Airshow 4000 v2 moving map has had a major facelift after the avionics group brought in some of California’s top video game programmers to make sure they got it right. The new v2 is purely a software upgrade and the entirely new mapping includes some 200 3-D enhancements and makes use of satellite-source topographic data from NASA.

Rockwell Collins’s Venue cabin management system is only just finding its way into production business aircraft, but the 3-D moving-map display is already undergoing a major software upgrade. The Version 2 enhancement is “dramatic,” director of cabin systems product marketing Andrew Mohr told AIN. Entirely new mapping includes some two hundred 3-D enhancements and makes use of satellite source data from NASA.

Lingering technical issues are forcing Garmin to delay plans for upgraded WAAS capability in the company's GNS 430/530 and GPS 400/500 panel-mount avionics, according to a spokesman. Explaining that the upgrades will require "a major software rewrite" in addition to minor hardware changes, the spokesman indicated that the capability is now not expected to be available before next year's third quarter.

A recent notice sent to Honeywell GNS-XLS owners confirmed what many had suspected all along: due to hardware limitations, the flight management system will be ineligible for upgrade to WAAS functionality. Honeywell is offering a software upgrade for the GNS-XLS covering precision area navigation (PRnav) in Europe and compliance with AC 90-100 for new U.S.
