Kevin Worthington has joined Dallas Airmotive as a regional engine manager covering several Midwestern states. Worthington will be responsible for selling repair and overhaul services on Pratt & Whitney Canada engines. Previously he sold P&WC engine services for Duncan Aviation at its Battle Creek, Mich. location. Worthington will cover Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, focusing on engine services sales for the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A, JT15D, PW500, PW306C and Honeywell 36-series APU. He will be based in Michigan.

Sikorsky Innovations launched its third Entrepreneurial Challenge on Wednesday at Heli-Expo ’13. The competition is designed to identify and accelerate growth for companies in the rotorcraft segment with revenues under $5 million, including newly formed and pre-revenue entities.
Boeing has added Hamilton Sundstrand to its team of suppliers on the KC-46 aerial tanker, awarding it a contract to supply its environmental-control system, electric-power generation system, emergency ram-air turbine system, fans and engine bleed-air system, engine controls and accessories, bleed-air leak detection system and the engine/APU fire detection and overheat detection system.
Pratt & Whitney has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Comac, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, for cooperation on leadership training. The programs, conducted by the Pratt & Whitney Customer Training Center in collaboration with Hamilton Sundstrand and Sikorsky, provide targeted curricula for senior executives, mid-level managers and high-potential employees.
Last week Sikorsky sought to quash a federal lawsuit brought by the Schweizer family that charges the Stratford, Conn.-based company with reneging on the terms of its 2004 purchase of Schweizer Aircraft, builder of light helicopters, surveillance aircraft and unmanned drones. Schweizer acquired the production rights to the Hughes 300-series helicopters from McDonnell Douglas in 1986.
The Sikorsky S-70i military helicopter–a new export variant of the UH-60M Black Hawk–made its first flight on July 1 from the Sikorsky Development Flight Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Sikorsky and the Tata Group have signed an agreement for the Indian enterprise to build cabins for the S-92 helicopter. Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. will establish a new facility at a greenfield site in Hyderabad, and is due to begin deliveries from late 2010.
United Technologies last month announced it will lay off 11,600 employees over the next two years. How these cuts will affect aerospace divisions Pratt & Whitney, Pratt & Whitney Canada, Sikorsky and Hamilton Sundstrand was not reported. However, P&WC said it isn’t planning any more layoffs than the 1,000 it announced in January.
Sikorsky yesterday announced the formation of Sikorsky Global Helicopters, a new umbrella business unit for the manufacturer’s commercial helicopters, including the S-76, S-92, H-92 and the Schweizer helicopter line. As part of the rebranding, the S-300c, S-300CBi, S-333 and S-434 will be marketed as Sikorsky helicopters. “The Schweizer name will disappear,” said Marc Poland, executive vice president of the new business unit.
Dean Borgman, president of Sikorsky Aircraft since 1998, has been appointed chairman of the company. Named to succeed him as president is Stephen Finger, who previously served as president of Pratt & Whitney’s military engines business. Both appointments took effect last month.
