The FAA is adopting an airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Learjet 60s. The AD was prompted by a report of a high-speed rejected takeoff caused by all four main landing gear (MLG) tires blowing out during the takeoff roll.
Canada’s Transportation Safety Board (TSB) released a final report early this month on the June 2010 accident at Ottawa’s MacDonald-Cartier International Airport (CYOW) in which the pilots of a Trans States Airlines Embraer ERJ 145LR were unable to stop the aircraft on the airport’s 8,000-foot Runway 7 during landing. With 33 passengers and a crew of three–none of whom was injured–the aircraft made a smooth touchdown 1,740 feet beyond the threshold of a wet runway approximately eight knots too fast.
Ontic (Hall 5 B219) has signed a license agreement with Tempe, Arizona-based Curtiss-Wright Controls to further expand its electronic and electro-mechanical portfolio–including landing gear levers, tiller modules, pilot LED checklists, flight control surface indicators, rudder trim switches and push-to-talk switches. These products will be moved to Ontic’s manufacturing facilities in Chatsworth, California and Cheltenham, UK.
Crane Aerospace & Electronics (Hall 4 A188), a supplier of systems and components for critical aerospace and defense applications, announced selections of several of its products for the Paris Air Show audience.
Pratt & Whitney has selected Crane to provide the lube and scavenge pumps for the Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1100G-JM geared-turbofan engine for the Airbus A320neo and the PW1400G for the Irkut MC-2.
Pilatus has selected Tactair Fluid Controls (Hall 3A 117A) to supply brake master cylinders for the Pilatus PC-24 twinjet. Tactair has also been selected by Mecaer Aviation Group for the brake master cylinder control system, which includes master cylinders, parking brake valve and reservoir for integration into the Bell 525 Relentless helicopter retractable landing gear. Tactair has also delivered flight test hardware to support the Embraer Legacy 500 and 450 landing gear.

A proposed Learjet 60 airworthiness directive
Mecaer Aviation Group has been selected by Eurocopter to design and manufacture the landing gear shock absorbers for the new-generation X4 helicopter. The company is responsible for the design, engineering, certification, production and after-sales support of the landing gears, and will provide to Eurocopter the absorbers for the nose landing gear and the two main landing gears, in addition to the nose landing gear electrical wheel lock actuator.

Here at Heli-Expo ‘13 the company unveiled a new website for its International Governor Services unit, which features its various services including maintenance, repair, overhaul and exchange of engine control products such as fuel controls, torque limiters and power turbine governors for Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6T (Twin Pac) and Rolls-Royce M250 engines.
Constant Aviation has relocated and expanded its accessory facility and capabilities. “The decision to relocate our landing-gear facility from the Birmingham location to the Cleveland location was made in part to leverage the efficiencies of the larger accessory facility and the capability of future growth. The new 20,000-sq-ft facility will allow us to expand into the service and repair of additional airframe landing gear and accessories. We have already begun the process of purchasing core gear units for our other niche aircraft,” said Stephen Maiden, president of Constant Aviation.
