Since the invention of the glass window, the way to prevent glare and heat from the sun was to pull down the shade. With its SPD-Smart window technology, Research Frontiers expects to consign the window shade to the dustbin of history. The U.S. company has licensed Vision Systems (Stand 2639) to produce the windows, and the technology is a highlight of this year’s Dubai Air Show.
Universal Weather and Aviation has enhanced Universal Mobile, its free iPad app, with the integration of its UVTripPlanner tool. The system now provides the same data used and audited daily by the Houston-based company, such as information on worldwide airports, FBOs, ground handlers, in-flight caterers, ground transport handlers and hotels. “It’s critical that business aviation professionals have accurate, worldwide airport-related information they can rely on to successfully plan their trips,” said Randy Stephens, Universal’s division vice president for product management.
JFI Jets (located here at the Epic Fuel stand, Booth No. C10807) has announced that its JFI JetCenter in Long Beach, Calif., has joined the Epic FBO Network. It has also become an Epic Aviation and UVair branded fuel reseller, and its customers can now earn Bravo Rewards and use the Epic card at Long Beach, said the company.

Now embarking on its second year of existence, the UVair FBO network has added its 20th member. Great Circle Flight Services at Alaska’s Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is a primary fuel stop for corporate aircraft transiting between the Far East and North America. “We are pleased to align Great Circle with a dynamic partner who understands the importance of Anchorage as a global crossroads,” said Great Circle president Justin Charon. The FBO opened in 2005 and provides 24/7 service.

International business aviation marketing and services company Action Aviation signed an exclusive distribution agreement at EBACE with AirGlide for Aviation Shield, a new nano-technology coating that claims fuel-burn savings of around 4 percent through drag reduction. AirGlide said the nano-particles in its coating fill microscopic gaps and crevices in the aircraft’s skin surface, reducing drag by up to 40 percent.
