Dassault Falcon plans to launch its super-midsize (SMS) trijet on October 22 at the NBAA Convention in Las Vegas. In July last year, the first SMS parts were being manufactured for testing purposes at Dassault’s Argenteuil factory northwest of Paris.
With a new total of 13,965 aircraft, Brazil’s general aviation fleet numbered almost 900 more units in 2012 than in 2011, according to data released this week in the third annual edition of the Handbook of Brazilian General Aviation. The yearbook, which is published by Brazilian industry association ABAG, shows the local fleet having grown at 6.7 percent last year–a slightly larger increase over the 2011 to 2012 rate.

A U.S.-registered Dassault Falcon 900 that was forced to make an emergency landing at an airport in southern Iran approximately three weeks ago was allowed to take off this past Sunday after repairs were completed. The trijet was reportedly en route from Abu Dhabi to Rotterdam when it landed at Ahvaz after what was described as a technical failure. The passenger and crew of the bizjet soon left Iran, while a French support team from Abu Dhabi arrived to perform repairs. As a member of ICAO, Iran is obligated to come to the aid of civilian aircraft in distress.

Dassault Aviation (Stand 7090) said it received approval from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration for steep approaches on all Falcon 900 and 2000 series models fitted with the EASy flight deck, based on Honeywell’s Primus Epic avionics suite. Both model series had earlier received steep-approach certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency.

The Dassault Falcon 7X fleet has accumulated more than 100,000 flight hours, marking a significant milestone for the French aircraft manufacturer’s 5,950-nm, large-cabin business jet. It delivered the first 7X in June 2007, and since that time 133 of the trijets have entered service in 31 countries. According to Dassault, the 7X fleet leader has accumulated more than 3,500 flight hours.
