NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen and Shanghai Airport Authority president Li Derun signed a memorandum of agreement at ABACE 2014 today to keep the annual Asian business aviation show at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport until at least 2021. The agreement doubles the life of the original five-year arrangement signed by the parties in June 2011. NBAA organizes the event in partnership with the Shanghai Airport Authority, with the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) co-hosting the event.

ABACE 2013 static

For the third successive year in recent times, the Asian Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (ABACE)–which is organized by NBAA in conjunction with the Shanghai Airport Authority, the Asian Business Aviation Association and the Shanghai Exhibition Center–will return to Shanghai’s Hongqiao Airport. It will run from April 14 to 17 at Shanghai Hawker Pacific’s Business Aviation Centre FBO, and will feature a 43,000-sq-ft (4,000-sq-m) hangar, a 52,000-sq-ft (4,800-sq-m) exhibitor pavilion and extensive ramp area for the static display.

Show organizers NBAA and the Asian Business Aviation Association have set April 15 to 17, 2014 as the dates for next year’s ABACE show, which again will be held at China’s Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. “Organizers are hard at work to make ABACE 2014 an even more successful demonstration of the significance of business aviation in Asia-Pacific, and in the months ahead we’ll have a number of exciting announcements to share,” said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen, adding that the Asian business aviation show “will build on the success of previous years.”

The general theme of all the speakers at the ABACE opening session this morning was one of cooperation of efforts to bring a vibrant and viable business aviation industry to China. “Business aviation generates jobs, allows companies to be productive and efficient and helps the country in times of natural disaster,” said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen.

Shanghai Is Home to Abace until 2016

The Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Abace) will take place at Shanghai Hongqaio Airport for at least the next four years, NBAA president Ed Bolen said today at Abace 2012, which is being hosted this week at Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre at the Shanghai airfield.

“Shanghai is a great regional hub and attracts people from all over the world,” he said. “Our Ebace and Labace shows are permanently located at Geneva and São Paulo, which seems to work well for people, and it’s possible that we will do the same with Abace in Shanghai.”

With less than two months to go before the opening of this year’s Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Abace) in Shanghai, organizers report that exhibition space for the event is sold out. NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen notes that a new pavilion area added to accommodate the overflow has also been filled. “To see that area sell out along with our original floor space underscores the significant interest in the show in China and across the Asian region,” he said.

NBAA and the Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA) finalized a five-year agreement yesterday that guarantees the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (Abace) will be held at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. The deal initially was struck between the parties at EBACE last month in Geneva.
