JetTech received an STC for installation of Garmin’s G600 avionics system in the Cessna Citation 500, 501, 550, 551 and S550. JetTech-approved Garmin dealers are eligible to install the G600 STC in customer aircraft. The JetTech G600 STC retains the jet’s existing RVSM system It also includes JetTech’s proprietary air data interface unit, according to JetTech founder and partner/manager Rob Irwin, allowing the aircraft’s RVSM solution to be displayed on pilot and copilot instruments.

China Eastern has selected Honeywell to provide a variety of its products and services for its fleet of Boeing 737 NG and Airbus A320 airliners. It will supply wheels and brakes for the 737 NGs to improve performance and reduce operating costs, for both new-build aircraft and as upgrades to the existing fleet. It also will provide 131-9 auxiliary power units for the 50 A320s that China Eastern has on order.

Thai C-130 cockpit

Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) and Rockwell Collins have just completed a major avionics upgrade for the Royal Thai Air Force’s C-130 Hercules fleet. The upgrade began five years ago and was accomplished in two phases, each covering six aircraft. The program allows the C-130 fleet to meet CNS/ATM (communications, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management) mandates until at least 2020, in turn allowing unrestricted access to global airspace.

Honeywell Aerospace is to supply the avionics for the 19 new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft Air China has on order. The Honeywell avionics suite includes IntuVue 3-D, an advanced weather system that offers pilots a more complete picture of weather systems than traditional 2-D offerings. The agreement also includes traffic collision avoidance system with mode-S transponders, plus flight and cockpit data recorders.

In the back, cabin enhancements include a deal for satcom capability using SwiftBroadband.

AgustaWestland and Honeywell are introducing a new “Phase 7” version of the Primus Epic avionics suite for the AW139 rotorcraft. The upgrade, which will be available soon for new-build aircraft as well as for retrofit, is about more than modernizing the operating procedures of the avionics, it marks a step-change in the manufacturer’s approach to developing the cockpits of its growing family of aircraft.

EuroAvionics’ Euronav7 moving map system can superimpose a camera footprint onto a satellite map. It features a dual-head processor unit, enabling two independent maps to be displayed simultaneously.

EuroAvionics is demonstrating Euronav 7, the latest version of its situational awareness and mission management system, here at Heli-Expo (Booth No. 6020). Targeting professional operators, the Stuttgart, Germany-based equipment manufacturer is offering moving map systems that can superimpose other data onto the map. Approximately 1,700 Euronav systems are installed, according to the company.

The FAA has issued Technical Standard Order (TSO) C-195a covering ADS-B Aircraft Surveillance Applications. The TSO means that new ADS-B surveillance applications, both systems and equipment, must meet minimum operational performance standards outlined in RTCA DO-317a, issued December 13 last year.
