Canadian aviation services provider Cadorath Group has completed a nearly $1 million renovation to its chrome-plating facility. Among the upgrades are new plating tanks, the latest rectifiers, improved pollution control and a modern air scrubber to meet current and future environmental standards. Chrome plating is used to repair and protect areas of components that are prone to wear. “Chrome plating is what started our aerospace companies,” said CEO Gerry Cadorath.

Techno Coatings wasn’t exhibiting at the NBAA Convention in November, but the North Miami, Fla. metal plating specialist put quite a shine on the show when it played host to some 200 attendees at a fashion show at Seasons 52 restaurant in Orlando.

Television personality and author Sir Brian Sterling hosted the gala, costumes were created by students from the Calvary Christian Academy and “America’s Next Top Model” personality Lauran Kirkpatrick headlined the selection of models.

Alamo Plating and Metal Finishing of Converse, Texas, a specialist in decorative plating, has introduced a new finishing process called water-transfer printing. The process in its basic form begins with a pre-printed, high-definition pattern on a water-soluble transfer film. The film is then “floated” in the surface in a processing tank of water.

Doncasters is investing close to $350,000 to develop the plasma spray facility at Doncasters Airmotive and Doncasters Aerospace Components in Shrewsbury, UK. Plasma spray technology is used to apply various metallic and ceramic coatings onto components by feeding the metallic or ceramic powder into a plasma flame with intense heat that melts the powder and sprays it onto the component.

High Tech Finishing, a Houston-based provider of decorative metal plating for customer aircraft interiors, has developed a new maintenance kit designed to preserve the appearance of metal plating. It is offering the kit free to show visitors at its NBAA booth (No. 5251). The package comes with nonabrasive materials and a special polishing pad. For easy stowage, it measures just 6.25 by 6.25 by 0.5 inches.
