The newly renamed G280 (formerly G250) is on schedule to enter service later this year, after certification by the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI), then EASA and the FAA. The first production G280 was delivered to Gulfstream’s completion center in Dallas in early August for interior outfitting and paint.

L-3’s Aviation Products Group (Static F186) is to supply a wide range of avionics for the Sky Aircraft Skylander SK-105, the multi-purpose twin-turboprop transport currently taking shape for a projected first flight in the middle of next year. L-3 is supplying systems via the SK-105’s core avionics integrator, Cobham Avionics.

After posting a slight 0.4-percent drop in April, business aircraft flight activity in the U.S. returned to positive territory last month, with a 2.7-percent year-over-year gain as a result of more flying at Part 91 private operators and fractional providers, according to TraqPak data released yesterday by aviation services company Argus.

The prototype of China’s J-20 fighter made its first publicly witnessed flight on January 11 from Chengdu’s factory airfield. The aircraft, which lifted off at 12:50 p.m. local time and landed 18 minutes later, was accompanied by a two-seat J-10S during its flight. The event was witnessed by high-ranking officials, who arrived from Beijing in two VIP Boeing 737s.
