International aviation services provider Gama Group has announced a major development project at the UK’s Glasgow Airport. The company will add a new executive FBO providing a 17,000-sq-ft hangar capable of sheltering aircraft the size of the Challenger 600 series, as well as serving as a line maintenance base to complement the company’s engineering facilities in the London area. Gama was recently selected to be the dedicated provider of air ambulance services for the Scottish Air Ambulance service for another seven-year term.
Smart Aviation Company
When the Russian tourists who were attacked by sharks in Egypt last week needed emergency medical aid, Cairo-based charter operator Smart Aviation came to the rescue with air ambulance-configured Citation Sovereigns.
"We took the people from Sharm el-Sheikh to Cairo, and we're going to be taking them back to Moscow," said Tarek Fouad, Smart's manager, commercial and sales, at the company's stand here at MEBA (Stand C100).
Egyptian charter operator Smart Aviation is preparing to take delivery of the first two Cessna Citation Sovereigns to be certified for medical evacuation work using the LifePort dual-patient cabin interior package. In June, LifePort certified its Patient Loading Utility System for use with a single patient on the Sovereign.
Jordanian operator Arab Wings yesterday ordered a new $17 million Cessna Citation Sovereign for delivery in the second half of 2009. Also announced yesterday was the delivery of a second Sovereign to Abu Dhabi-based Prestige Jet and the delivery of two more Citation Mustangs to Lebanese air taxi company Open Sky.
Business must be good for Smart Aviation, the Cairo-based air charter operator formed earlier this year with a single Cessna Citation Sovereign. The evidence lies with an order the company has placed with Cessna for five more Sovereigns in a deal valued at around $80 million.
