St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Airlines signed a letter of intent last month to fly 14 Bombardier CRJ200s as US Airways Express under a capacity purchase agreement. The three-year deal would call for the SkyWest jets to replace CRJ200s and Bombardier Dash 8 turboprops now supplied by Mesa Air Group out of Phoenix starting in the middle of next year.

St. George, Utah-based SkyWest on May 11 named former CFO and executive vice president Brad Rich president of the company as part of a restructuring that saw vice president of finance and treasurer Michael Kraupp become chief financial officer. Long-time SkyWest chief executive Jerry Atkin remains chairman of the board and CEO.

The FAA has proposed $359,000 in civil penalties against St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Airlines for three separate alleged FAR violations. The largest penalty, which could cost SkyWest $220,000, involves an alleged failure to document heavy checked bags, motorized mobility aids and a heavy shipment carried in the cargo compartment of the company’s passenger aircraft. Two other cases involved maintenance of the company’s Bombardier CRJs.

St. George, Utah-based SkyWest placed a firm order with Bombardier last month for four CRJ700s. SkyWest plans to fly the airplanes under its Delta Connection code-share agreement in a 65-seat, dual-class configuration.

St. George, Utah-based SkyWest announced today that it has completed its acquisition of Houston-based ExpressJet Holdings. Under the terms of the $133 million transaction, ExpressJet Airlines becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), itself a unit of SkyWest.

St. George, Utah-based SkyWest has agreed to lend United Airlines $80 million as part of a deal announced today that extends SkyWest Airlines’ code-sharing relationship with UAL and calls for SkyWest subsidiary Atlantic Southeast Airlines to launch United Express service during next year’s first quarter.
