In a ceremony complete with a band, acrobatic performers and lion dancers to bring luck and prosperity to the new facilities, and 150 spectators, Jet Aviation Singapore opened the doors of its 80,700-sq-ft hangar facility at Seletar Aerospace Park on May 31. Center stage was the MRO’s new $25 million, 53,800-sq-ft hangar erected adjacent to the company’s original facility.

Jet Aviation has added a 420-sq-ft interior shop to its new hangar facility at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park to expand its cabin capabilities from minor interior repairs and touch-ups to full interior refurbishment. The facility is outfitted to support upholstery, wood and veneer finishing and carpeting, and is complemented by a new 7,000-sq-ft spray-painting and buffing shop.

Business aviation services group Jet Aviation (Booth P328) is set to significantly boost its maintenance capability in Asia when it completes construction of 79-foot (24-meters) high second hangar at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park by the end of this month. The new $25 million facility will triple the size of its present facility adding almost 54,000 sq ft of hangar space.

Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) Vector Aerospace expects to open its new engine center at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park by the end of this year. The facility is being specifically built to support Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A turboprops and represents an investment of almost $40 million.

Last year, Pratt & Whitney Canada appointed Vector (Booth T102) as a designated overhaul facility. It will support operators of aircraft such as the Bombardier Q400 regional airliner in the Asia Pacific region.

Looking at organic growth in 2014, BBA Aviation (Booth D63), a global provider for support and aftermarket services, is viewing opportunities for acquisitions this year, according to the UK-based group’s Asia Pacific president David Best. He did not elaborate on possible targets but the group has acknowledged that it would like to add to its already-extensive chain of FBOs, which includes a new base at Singapore’s Changi Airport. “We will carry on extending scope and scale from our Singapore base,” he told AIN, adding “We welcome [economic] recovery in Asia Pacific.”

Jet Aviation Singapore and Air Transport Training College at Seletar Aerospace Park will jointly support a licensed aircraft engineer training program for business aviation. As part of the agreement, Jet Aviation will provide required on-the-job training opportunities to students enrolled in the program.

Vector Aerospace breaks ground this month for its PW150A engine facility at Singapore’s Seletar Aerospace Park. The new 86,000-sq-ft center will include a 56,000-sq-ft Pratt and Whitney designated overhaul facility with full engine overhaul and test capability. Vector expects the facility to open next year.

The company, which specializes in transitioning legacy parts manufacturing and distribution from OEMs to its own aftermarket production, has expanded both physically and through its range of products and services. At a ribbon-cutting ceremony September 25 it opened a new MRO facility in Singapore’s popular Seletar Aerospace Park, co-located with BBA Aviation’s Dallas Airmotive, which has established a Singapore Regional Turbine Center.
