During EBACE Beechcraft has delivered a G58 Baron to SaxonAir, a Norwich, UK-based charter company that also has bases at Biggin Hill and Cannes, France. The Baron will be used for company transportation and will also be available for charter. SaxonAir’s fleet includes the Hawker 900XP and 400XP, a King Air 350, two Citation Mustangs and Eurocopter EC120 and EC135 helicopters.
The UK’s Oxford Airport (Booth No. 1359) is achieving recession-busting traffic figures. For the period from April 2009 to March 2010 there was a 31.6-percent increase in the numbers of all visiting aircraft (including scheduled airline services) and a 12-percent increase in all business aviation movements.
FlairJet, based at London Oxford Airport, has been issued an air operator’s certificate and is the first European company to get approval to fly charters in the Embraer Phenom 100. “We are delighted to become the first Phenom 100 operator in Europe to get AOC approval,” said FlairJet CEO David Fletcher.
European very light jet (VLJ) air-taxi service Blink has opened a second base at Geneva. The operator is also about to take delivery of the seventh of 30 Cessna Citation Mustangs that are on firm order and plans to base two of the twinjets in Geneva. The rest of the fleet is currently based at the London-area Farnborough Airport or nearby Blackbushe Airport.
Cessna Aircraft last month delivered the 200th Citation Mustang, with the entry-level jet going to Honolulu-based Maritime Air Charters. The firm plans to operate the Mustang as a charter aircraft from its facility in Newnan, Ga., outside Atlanta. Maritime intends to offer to other Mustang owners services such as aircraft management, flight crew service and charter management.
Since opening a new business aviation facility six months ago, the UK’s Oxford Airport continues to record increased traffic. A new 21,000-sq-ft hangar is scheduled to open shortly, and the airport is considering erecting new T-hangars and adding a second floor to the general aviation terminal. Oxford Airport is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
