Quest Kodiak "Summit Executive" interior

Quest Aircraft (Booth MD-032B) of Sandpoint, Idaho, is displaying one of its Kodiak turboprop singles outfitted with the new “Summit Executive” interior this week at the Sun ’n’ Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, Fla. The new interior, which is expected to receive STC approval in the second quarter, features reclining club-four seating, along with folding tables, forward cabinets, better soundproofing and other amenities. It builds on the Timberline and Tundra interiors announced in 2012 that included composite panels, storage pockets, cupholders, improved headrests and center pedestal closeouts.

Quest Aircraft recently delivered three Kodiak turboprop singles to TAME EP Airlines in Ecuador, the Sandpoint, Idaho company announced yesterday. The aircraft will be used for passenger transport and eco-tourism, in conjunction with the Ecuadorian Amazon Connectivity Project, an initiative of the Ecuadorian government to offer reliable transportation to and from remote areas of the country. With these latest deliveries, the Kodiak is now approved in 14 countries, said Quest, which expects more new certifications this year.

Quest Aircraft delivered the 100th Kodiak turboprop single during a ceremony today at its Sandpoint, Idaho factory, a milestone that comes less than six years after the first Kodiak was handed over to a customer in January 2008. Sunstate Aviation, a Part 91 operator based in Phoenix, took delivery of the centennial aircraft.

Sandpoint, Idaho-based Quest Aircraft announced several promotions of key personnel today. Paul Duff, Jason Eddy and Steve Zinda have been promoted to vice presidents of their respective departments: supply chain; engineering and operations; and sales, marketing and customer service. Kenny Stidham, who joined Quest in April 2005 as the engineering test pilot, has also been promoted to the newly created position of director of flight operations and safety.

Quest Aircraft named Samuel Hill as its new CEO, the Sandpoint, Idaho-based turboprop manufacturer announced today. Hill has more than 40 years of aviation experience, most recently with Honda Aircraft, from which he retired earlier this year. Before joining Honda, he spent 10 years with Embraer Aircraft in key leadership positions, including president and vice chairman, and was responsible for starting Embraer’s corporate aircraft division. Dave Vander Griend, who had been serving as Quest’s interim CEO since mid-2011, will continue in his role as chairman of the board.

Quest Aircraft, the Sandpoint, Idaho-based manufacturer of the Kodiak turboprop single, secured recapitalization and new investment funding from private investors last month. The amount of funding was not disclosed, but company president and CEO Paul Schaller said it “positions Quest to meet the needs of multiple market segments as the general aviation industry continues to recover.”

The SilverWing at Sandpoint luxury residential community at Sandpoint Municipal Airport in Idaho is progressing, with completion of the first model unit and several lots and a shell building in escrow. The 18-acre development has direct access to Sandpoint Airport.

Quest Aircraft’s new Kodiak high-wing, 10-passenger turboprop single made a brief first flight October 16, exactly two years after the startup dedicated its 27,000-sq-ft research and development facility in Sandpoint, Idaho. The flight of the 750-shp Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-powered STOL, fixed-gear airplane lasted just six minutes as the pilot made one circuit of the airport.

Interiors development and certification specialist Millennium Concepts of Wichita has received an order from Quest Aircraft for follow-on production interiors for the Sandpoint, Idaho company’s Kodiak utility aircraft. Millennium has worked closely with Quest on design, certification and fabrication of components for the Kodiak’s various interior packages–the Tundra, Timberline and Summit.
