Meridian Air Charter, based in Teterboro, N.J., is expanding its operations to the West Coast as part of a long-term plan to serve existing clients better, while developing its charter and aircraft management services in the San Francisco area. The two-phase expansion involves opening California sales offices in San Jose and at Sonoma County Airport in Santa Rosa. Corsair Aviation, owner of two Part 135 charter companies, has purchased charter/management firm ACM Aviation, based at California’s Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport. ACM used to be an FBO as well as a charter/management company, but sold the FBO portion–called San Jose Jet Center–to Atlantic Aviation parent Macquarie Infrastructure in August last year. Corsair will operate the three charter companies separately.
ACM Aviation has broken ground on a new, 17,000-sq-ft executive terminal with a 60,000-sq-ft hangar on the west side of Mineta San Jose International Airport. Upon completion of construction, planned for fall 2006, ACM Aviation will celebrate 25 years in business.
Hangar space in Silicon Valley increased by 47,000 sq ft this summer when San Jose Jet Center opened its new terminal/hangar complex known as Hangar E. The project broke ground at San Jose International Airport (SJC) in September last year and construction was completed in June. The new hangar has enough floor space to accommodate eight Gulfstream V- or Global Express-size aircraft, and has the necessary 28-foot doors as well.
Mireille’s Inflight Catering, headquartered at Long Beach, Calif., last month opened a fully equipped business aviation catering operation at San Francisco International Airport. The 1,500-sq-ft facility is under the direction of Mireille operations manager Eric Youe and offers catering services to San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose International Airports.
Atlantic Aviation and its owner, Macquarie Infrastructure, plan to rebrand a number of the recently acquired FBOs under the Atlantic Aviation brand. This includes 24 Mercury Air Centers/ Corporate Wings facilities purchased from Allied Capital and the two San Jose Jet Center FBOs at Mineta San Jose International Airport in San Jose, Calif.
In an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission last month, Macquarie Infrastructure revealed that it is adding two FBOs at Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport in Northern California to its acquisition of the Mercury Air Centers FBO chain. The deal calls for Mercury to buy the San Jose Jet Center and ACM Aviation. If all goes as planned, Macquarie will add 26 FBOs to its existing Atlantic Aviation FBO chain.
