Raymond Conner has been promoted to president and CEO at Boeing Commercial Airplanes; previously he was senior v-p of sales and customer support for commercial airplanes. He succeeds James Albaugh, who will retire in October.

Embraer Executive Jets has tapped Jay Beever, previously new product interior design manager at Gulfstream, as v-p of interior design.

Sir Ralph Robins, formerly CEO and executive chairman of Rolls-Royce, has been named non-executive chairman of UK-based global aviation services provider Gama Group.

Textron has promoted Scott Donnelly to president, in addition to his COO role. Richard Yates, the company’s senior v-p and controller, has been named acting CFO after the recent departure of executive v-p and CFO Ted French.

BBA Aviation is moving Gary Boekenkamp to its Legacy Products Group. In this new job, Boekenkamp will serve as vice president of marketing, acquisitions and strategic business development. He will be responsible for strategic planning, looking for new opportunities and acquisitions. The Legacy Products Group licenses mature OEM parts from manufacturers, assuming responsibility for production quality and aftermarket support.

The BBA Group, which includes the Signature Flight Support chain and Dallas Airmotive, believes that business aviation has bounced back from the post-September 11 downturn and predicts this recovery will shore up its profits this year. On March 12 the UK-based company announced pre-tax profits for 2001 of £124.2 million ($176 million), down 18 percent from the previous year.

Signature Flight Support parent BBA Aviation sold Oxford Airport in the UK to private investment group OA Acquisitions for £40 million ($80 million) late last month. The new owner is part of the Aldersgate Investments group, controlled by multi-millionaire British real estate developers David and Simon Reuben. The brothers declined to comment on their intentions for the airport, which has been trying to attract more business aviation traffic.

The Toulouse Business School has designed a dedicated MBA program for the aerospace industry. According to Dr. Jacques Tournut, the school’s director of MBA and postgraduate programs, deep-seated changes in the industry have to be implemented by competent executives who have often left engineering to fill managerial roles for which they are not trained.
