Making high-end carpet at Kalogridis is a hands-on, labor-intensive effort by skilled artisans.

Kalogridis International had a better year in 2011 than in 2010, and this year, said founder George Kalogridis, promises to be even better.

Demand for high-end carpeting in the single-aisle and twin-aisle bizliner market, he said, wasn’t affected so much by the recession as the smaller business and private jet segment. Now, he added, activity is starting to pick up in that smaller jet market.

Air transport traffic statistics for June showed a showed a slight softening in demand for both air travel and freight markets, according to a report released today by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Compared with June 2010, passenger demand increased 4.4 percent while freight demand dropped by 3 percent.
