PremiAir Aviation International, which chairman Graham Avery acquired last December, is launching The West London Heliport, located with its maintenance facility at Blackbushe Airport, and adding an FBO. “We felt a need for a second heliport serving the capital,” Avery said during a press conference at Helitech.
UK helicopter charter specialist PremiAir revealed plans to brand its Blackbushe base (near TAG Farnborough Airport) as the West London Heliport, following the company’s restructuring under new ownership. More details will be revealed at the Helitech show, which will be held September 24 to 26 at the Excel center in London’s Docklands. The company also plans to acquire its own twin-engine helicopters to “build up a managed fleet of helicopters it will both maintain and offer for third-party charter.”
Embraer Executive Jets’ Legacy 650 recently received type certification from Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, paving the way for customer Premiair to put the aircraft into service. With the approval, all in-production Embraer Executive Jets are now certified in this country. When Premiair takes delivery of two Legacy 650s it has on order, the Indonesian charter operator will have eight Embraer jets in its fleet.
The UK’s PremiAir group has closed its fixed-wing charter operation as part of a consolidation process. It has already sold one of its three Bombardier Learjet 45s and will likely sell the other two. “We lost a lot of money on the fixed-wing operation and it is questionable whether it was a good idea to get into this business with that type of aircraft,” commented group operations director Christopher Forrest.
Reuben Brothers acquired the London Heliport in Battersea from Andrew Davis today, adding to an aviation portfolio that includes London Oxford Airport . The heliport, which is located on the River Thames and allows easy access to London’s West End and city center, is the only CAA-licensed one in London. PremiAir, which is still owned by Davis, is one of the most frequent users of the heliport.
UK operator PremiAir is at EBACE (Stand 843) showcasing its private jet and executive helicopter management and charter services. The company also provides maintenance for both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft and operates a Hawker Beechcraft service center at Oxford Airport.
Five days before the 2010 Ryder Cup golf tournament began on October 1 in Newport, South Wales, UK-based charter operator PremiAir announced that its helicopter transfer services were “fully booked” for the event. Dedicated to these flights were a four-seat Eurocopter AS355 Twin Squirrel and an eight-seat Sikorsky S-76. Among other starting points, services were offered from London heliport for a 50-minute journey.
