Kansas City, Mo.-based fractional provider Executive AirShare saw its customer count rise last year by 50, to 185, a 37-percent increase. According to president and CEO Keith Plumb, the regional fractional provider–which serves shareowners in Kansas City; Wichita; Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Okla.; Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Texas; and Buffalo, N.Y–has “recorded four consecutive years of double-digit growth, achieved profitability and established a reputation for delivering the highest quality service.”
India’s Invision Air has abandoned plans to build a wholly owned fleet of Embraer Phenom light jets, switching its business model to one based largely on aircraft management and a scheme to provide flights connecting smaller cities within the state of Maharashta. The Mumbai-based group originally intended to buy six Phenom 300s and six Phenom 100s.
Embraer delivered 20 business jets during the first quarter of this year, compared with just 12 during the same period a year earlier. The 66-percent increase in deliveries in the company’s executive jet business accompanied an increase in its overall, firm-order backlog to $19.2 billion from $18.2 billion during the quarter, driven mainly by a firm order for 50 E2 E-Jets to India’s Air Costa during the Singapore Airshow in February.

The 66-percent increase in deliveries in the company’s executive jet business accompanied an increase in its overall, firm-order backlog from $18.2 billion to $19.2 billion during the quarter, driven mainly by a firm for 50 E2 E-Jets to India’s Air Costa during February’s Singapore Airshow. The business jet sales tally included three Phenom 100s, 14 Phenom 300s, two Legacy 650s and a single Lineage 1000.
Embraer recently delivered the first Phenom 300 to India. Customer Kerala-based Joy Jets will operate the light jet alongside its existing Phenom 100. The operator, which is part of the Joyalukkas chain of jewelry stores, has said it intends to add a longer-range midsize aircraft to its fleet next year.
Embraer Executive Jets delivered the 300th Phenom 100 earlier this week to Laticínios Bela Vista, an agribusiness company based in Bela Vista de Goiás, Brazil. This is the second Phenom 100 for the company, which uses the light jet to shuttle executives and managers among the company’s industrial facilities and to visit customers in cities across Brazil. Embraer delivered the first Phenom 100, to husband and wife owner-pilots Jim and Betsy Frost, in December 2008, and the current fleet is operating in more than 25 countries.
Embraer says the slowdown in the Indian economy has done little to stop its strong business aircraft sales in the country. India is the first country from the Asia Pacific region to have a complete portfolio of Embraer aircraft, ranging from the Phenom 100 very light jet to the large-cabin Lineage 1000.
Embraer delivered 119 executive jets worth $1.64 billion last year–up by 26 percent on 2012’s $1.29 billion–and nearly half of them (53) were handed over in the fourth quarter. The whole-year deliveries broke down as 90 light jets (60 Phenom 300s and 30 Phenom 100s) and 29 large jets (21 Legacy 600/650s and eight Lineage 1000/shuttles), and in the fourth quarter the tally was 38 light jets and 15 large jets.
Embraer has selected Cleveland, Ohio-based Constant Aviation to become a Legacy 450 and 500 authorized service center. The MRO will be able to provide maintenance, avionics services, modifications and composite repairs, and it will also be able to address Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins on both aircraft. The announcement builds on a 15-year partnership that includes authorized service center status on the Legacy 600/650 and Phenom 100/300. The company’s Birmingham, Ala. operation also holds service center status on the Phenom 100/300.
RBR Maintenance has hired Chris Grinnell as lead technician. According to the company, Grinnell has developed extensive technical knowledge through his previous positions as maintenance/lead mechanic and AOG technician. Specializing in Cessna and Embraer aircraft, Grinnell has been working on the Phenom 100 since first delivery. In addition, he has successfully completed FJ44 schooling. In his new position he will be responsible for overseeing maintenance projects and providing technical support to RBR customers.
